After several local incidents of Key Safes being broken into or attempted to be broken into, here is a quick reminder of the recommendations for usage. Accepting that in some circumstances a key safe is needed, do consider if you really need one or can a spare key be kept by a trusted neighbour. If a key safe is needed, ideally purchase one that is “Secure by Design", a police recognised security standard. There are many others available on the internet that are not secure or robust.Fix as instructed by the manufacturer. To a flat solid masonry wall using the appropriate length fixings.Consider if you can you locate it in an area that is generally out of sight. e.g. in a cupboard or round a corner. Please do not make it any easier than necessary for burglars to enter your house whilst you are out.
